Hav Lalak Jan 9ners conjured up a nail-biting 5-4 victory over Naik Saif Ali Janjua 9ners in the international Nishan-i-Haider 9ners hockey tournament at the Abdul Sattar Edhi Hockey Stadium here on Friday.
After suffering a 3-4 loss at the hands of Saif Ali Janjua 9ners in the penalty shootout, Lalak Jan 9ners romped home 2-0 to grab three points as against one earned by their opponents.
Adeel Latif, Shahzeb Ali, Hammad Anjum and Junaid Manzoor successfully scored one goal apiece as Awais Arshad missed in shootout for Saif Ali Janjua 9ners.
Lalak Jan 9ners could only score three goals through Naved Alam, Umair Sattar and Waqar Ali as Ghazanfar Ali and Afraz Hakeem faltered.
However, Lalak Jan 9ners avenged their penalty shootout defeat by inflicting 2-0 defeat on their opponents in the stipulated time.
Abdullah Bokhari broke the ice slamming the first goal in the 13th minute while Ali Aziz consolidated it in the 25th minute.
In the second match of the day, Capt. Raja Mohammad Sarwar 9ners amassed three valuable points by getting the better of Maj. Tufail Mohammad 9ners by odd goal in three (2-1) in the regulation time. The latter could only earn one point imposing 4-2 victory over the former in shootouts.
Irfan Jr, Hasan Anwar, Sohail Anjum and Bilal Mahmood delivered the goods as Shehryar missed.
Samiullah and Fayyaz Yaqoob netted one goal apiece while Rizwan Ali, Salman and Qazi Asfandyar missed the target for Sarwar 9ners.
In regulation time, Sarwar 9ners scored twice, once in each half, through Samiullah off PC in 27th minute and Fayyaz Yaqoob in the 38th minute after Hasan Anwar had given the lead to his team in the 14th minute off PC.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Hussain Janjua 9ners carved out a 3-1 victory over Rashid Minhas 9ners but the latter carved out a 3-0 victory over the former in regulation time in the second match of Thursday.
M. Sabir, Zain Ejaz and Fahadullah banged home one goal apiece for Mohammad Hussain 9ners while Rashid Minhas 9ners could only score one through Dilber.
Sikandar Mustafa opened the account for Rashid Minhas 9ners in the 12th minute as the team led 1-0 at half time.
Interruption of power three minutes after resumption compelled the organisers to stop the match. Later, it was decided to complete the the play Friday morning.
Rashid Minhas 9ners added two more goals, thanks to Waseem Aslam, on resumption of play.
However, after restoration of power, the third fixture of Thursday was played accordingly as Maj M. Akram 9ners stamped their authority by registering 6-4 victory over Capt. Sher Khan 9ners.
First they won 4-3 in the shootout and later carved out 2-1 win in regulation time.
Awais-ur-Rehman, Faisal Qadir, Usman Nazim and Shan Irshad were the scorers for the winners while Nabeel Hussain. M. Abid and Zeeshan Alvi capitalised for the losers in the shootouts.
Ali Hasan Faraz and Zulqarnain netted once for Akram 9ners in the 14th and 30th minutes while Arshad Liaquat reduced the deficit for the losers.
