President Dr Arif Alvi Wednesday assured his backing to the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) in its efforts to hold the first professional league in October this year. President Alvi expressed these views during a meeting with PHF chief Brig (r) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar, who called on him at presidency. “I am grateful to the president for showing support for the game of hockey. We are planning to hold first Professional Hockey League in October this year and sought all-out support from the government. The president has assured full backing, saying that the PHF efforts would be fully backed,” Khokhar, when contacted, said. The PHF president also revealed that President Alvi wanted revival of hockey in the country.

President Pakistan Hockey Federation Brigadier Muhammad Khalid Sajjad Khokhar (Retd.) Called on the President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan Dr. Muhammad Arif Alvi at Awan-Sadar Islamabad on Wednesday, 29th January 2020 and briefed him on affairs of Pakistan Hockey, discussed ways and means to uplift the National game and requested him for government patronage in prompting the national sports.
